Was called completely out of the blue, initially to say if they could ask a few questions, but quickly turned into an over the phone interview which lasted around 25 minutes. I was then asked for an assessment. This contained some very basic maths questions (around GCSE level), analytical questions (given text, is the statement on the text true, false, or cannot say etc), and a short essay on a topic completely unrelated to the job (mine was on the implementation of systems that prevent midair plane collisions) but you are not expected to know the topic, just critically analyse the text (is it accurate, how could it be improved, assumptions...). Was then asked for a 1st interview over zoom, where i was asked to present my most recent research project for 10 minutes followed by questions, then after was a normal interview. Was then called for a second in person interview with two people from the company, who asked about experience, and personal attributes and suitability.
