      Entrevista

First off I want to say that this job posting is newer on GlassDoor, but has been on other Job Sites for a while. This entire "interview" process took over a month. I feel this is a sham posting. Applied at the end of August. Was contacted a few weeks later asking me to schedule a date/time for a 30 minute screening interview. Was shocked to see that the only dates available by the recruiter in Google Calendar were 20 days away. Scheduled a date anyways. Two days before the interview I was contacted and asked to reschedule. I did, it was for 5 days later. Initial 30 minute screening phone call was bizarre... Lots of personal questions about why I would leave teaching, and what I dislike about teaching. Next day was given an "assignment" to do. Make a storyboard with text and some visuals about a predetermined math question. Was given 2 days to do it. I finished it in a few hours and sent it in. Asked for confirmation that it was received. Emails within a thread don't seem to be acknowledged by their HR person. Never any confirmation that it was received. Over a week later I was then moved to next step of 1 hour interview with Team Lead. Again the HR person did not respond to my email detailing my availability for the call. I needed to send another email outside of an email thread for it to be acknowledged. Was told who I would be speaking to for the 1 hour call. When I was actually called, I was speaking to someone else. Had a terrific conversation. Asked person timeline for the remaining steps (face to face interview, then cultural interview), and person couldn't give me an answer. Few days later was emailed by the person from the first 30 minute interview that they chose to pursue other candidates with stronger experience and skills for the position. I asked for feedback on where I fell short, as I felt the interviews and assignment went well. I was ignored... No feedback given.

Thank you for taking the time to review your interview experience and share your feedback with us. We are constantly striving to improve. Our product has seen such success that we are hiring for multiple content creators, which is why the role is still posted. In regards to the recruiter not having availability for 20 days, that was a glitch with our Google calendars. We received feedback from other candidates regarding this issue and coordinated time outside of the Easybook link that you were sent. We apologize for not recognizing the issue earlier and setting up a time with you. We understand how important an efficient recruitment process is for those looking for new opportunities. Making the transition from an in-class teaching position to in-office position has been a challenge for past candidates. This is why the recruiter is asking questions around what you dislike about teaching and why you are looking to make the change, environment wise. We want our candidates to be well aware of the differences and understand that you will still have a direct impact on education but on a much larger scale, outside the classroom. Our talent coordinator is responsible for reaching out to candidates and scheduling interviews after a successful phone screen. Although she is a good point of contact, she is not responsible nor does she have the context of what next steps entail for all roles. We have recognized that this does lead to communication errors. We have recently changed the process for this role, having one recruiter own the role and work with the coordinator to be included in all email threads. This will eliminate confusion on next steps and will help provide candidates with feedback when requested. We apologize for your experience and sincerely thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We take all feedback into consideration and make changes accordingly. We wish you the very best in your future career.

      Entrevista

Sent in my application and resume via their website. Was contacted the next day with a generic invitation for the next stage; had my phone interview with the recruiter which went fine; I then had another phone interview with a team lead the next day, which also went fine. I began noticing red flags five days later when I received an e-mail from the recruiter asking when I was available for a 90 minute interview. I replied with my availability for the remainder of the week within 15 minutes. 2 days went by, so I reached out to her to check that she had received my availability, and I told her my availability for the following week, as it was now Wednesday. I received an e-mail after 11pm that night confirming an interview with no apology or explanation as to why she hadn't gotten back to me the first time, which I thought was a bit rude and definitely unprofessional. Nonetheless, I accepted and moved forward in the process. I arrived the day of the interview expecting to be shown around by the recruiter for 10-15 minutes before my scheduled interview time, as she had indicated in the e-mail. She wasn't there. I waited for about 10 minutes while a couple other team members looked for her. She never showed, so one of the team members who was interviewing me showed me around, citing that she's "never really here this early". The in-person interview included a technical component with a couple team members, and finished with a cultural fit interview with two other team members. In total, the interview took over 3 hours from start to finish, and wasn't particularly difficult. According to their company policies, they were to make their final decision, with feedback, within 48 hours. 48 hours passed with no updates from the recruiter, so I e-mailed her asking for an update. I received no reply. At this point I was becoming frustrated because it didn't feel like she (or the company, if she is a direct reflection of them) valued my time at all. The next day, again without any apologies or explanations for the delay, she called and said that they had decided to go with a "stronger candidate". I thanked her for letting me know, and sent a follow-up e-mail asking for specific feedback as to what made me less of a "strong fit" or what qualifications I was missing. It has been over 2 weeks and I've yet to receive a reply. By looking at similar reviews regarding the interview process on here, I can safely assume that age definitely had something to do with it. In hindsight, I would have definitely heeded the red flags raised on here about their recruitment process, lack of communication, and their disregard for their candidate's time.

Thank-you for taking the time to write a review and highlight your concerns in regards to our interview process. We want to ensure you, and all candidates, that we value your time and commitment to the interview process. We’ve shared your review at a Talent Team retrospective for learning purposes. Based on your feedback we have shifted responsibility from interviewers to the recruiter to communicate a decision deadline after the interview has taken place. This means a hiring manager or interviewer will no longer tell a candidate when they can expect an answer. Candidate experience is something that we as a company have been striving to improve as we want everyone who interviews, successful or not, to enjoy their time with Prodigy. For example, we pride ourselves on a culture of radical candor and therefore have implemented a new feedback loop for candidates. After each stage of the interview process, recruiters are to connect with the candidate, gather any feedback and set out clear expectations for next steps. Hiring managers are to provide a summary of why the candidate isn’t a successful hire, which will be available for recruiters to share if requested. We recognize that there are improvements to be made in our interview process and want to thank-you for your feedback as it helps us grow as a company. We wish you the very best in your future career.
