Very easy interview/hiring process. I see a lot of other reviews saying that it's a long, in depth process, but it really isn't. The entire process, from application to job offer, was less than a month and it was during the holiday season.
I applied online. Three days later I was asked to take an online pre-employment assessment. I took that immediately and received the results and a request for a phone screening the same day. The phone interview was scheduled for three days after the assessment.
The phone interview lasted approximately 20-25 minutes and the recruiter was very friendly. They want single specific examples that are thought out and articulated well. She started the interview with discussing the position a bit more, then moved onto the STAR questions. Answering these questions in the right format cannot be emphasized enough. Then I had a chance to ask some questions; which helped turn the screening into more of a conversation about the job and Progressive, in general. Finally wrapped up with what the next steps would be. She kindly gave me some pointers on how to handle the in-person interview and how to prepare for it.
Two days after the phone interview, I received the request for a background check. There was about a 10 window where I didn't hear anything because of (I'm assuming) the background check, Christmas and New Years. Immediately after the holidays I received a request for an in person interview. The interview was to be with a regional manager who would only be conducting interviews on a certain day, so there was no flexibility with scheduling that. My only real hiccup with the process was the recruiter never sent me a confirmation email for the in person interview, so I called back 2 days later and she did not recall speaking with me. Thankfully that time slot was still open.
In person interview lasted about an hour. The regional manager was friendly. Similar format to the phone screening, just more in depth. Started by talking about himself, his role and his background with the company. Then we went through my background and previous positions. Then moved into 5 STAR questions. Again, focus heavily on the format when answering these. I believe they wanted about 30 seconds of explaining the situation, around 2 minutes talking about actions and 15 seconds talking about results. Be concise, but descriptive and don't ramble. Then the interview wrapped up with me asking questions.
Two days after the interview, I received a formal offer. There was no salary negotiation at all despite me having industry experience. Start date was 2 weeks from offer date.
For an exact time frame, I applied on 12/16 and received the offer on 1/13.
