First step is to take a basic math and language assessment. After that I was invited to a video interview through HireVue, which Progressive says is in the STAR (Situation-Task-Action-Result) format, so answers need to take the form of a story. You have 2 minutes to answer, with 2 attempts total, with a countdown time between questions. If on the 2nd attempt you don't finish answering, or mess up, that's the one they're going to get. While most questions took the format of "Tell us about a time when..." and presents a scenario (angry customer, difficult task, achieved a goal, etc.) they will pepper in some personal, subjective or opinion seeking questions almost impossible to answer in the previously mentioned STAR format, such as "What interests you the most about working in this role?" or "In the last 5 years what opinion did you like the least and why?" Not sure if those questions are in there as "trick" questions to see how fast you can think on your feet, or if they expect a legitimate STAR answer. The result, in my experience, was wasting a first attempt trying to first figure out how to answer that with a situational answer as best as possible - so prepare yourself for some curveballs but remember to follow that STAR format without deviation - Situation, Task, Action, Result.
