I received an email right away to complete a phone screen with HR. The whole video interview felt rushed. It seemed like I as an inconvenience to her the entire time. I left the interview not really sure if I wanted to work there. I was relieved to get a rejection. One concern I had was that they didn't know how to pay for this position. It seemed like they wanted to underpay market value then realized that no one would take that pay. When I asked about the pay range I was immediately asked what range I would accept as they do not have a range yet in mind. When I described my range I was told that it was what other people have been wanting and should be able to pay that. I was very confused by that answer and gave me an unorganized feeling. It is a fairly new company born from a long-standing organization, I expected more. I care more about culture than anything else and this culture seemed a little odd.
