The initial screen is not performed via phone. Instead, they use an online video interview screening process where you record yourself answering various position-centric questions via recorded video. While I have years of experience giving presentations to remote participants via video, I did not feel comfortable. Actually, it was quite the opposite where I felt uncomfortable. I believe my issue is that there is no actual person asking the questions and who, typically, would provide conversational queues as I answer the questions. All-in-all, I found the experience unsettling.
