I applied online for the Development Accounting Manager role in July and shortly after I had a phone interview with HR. The following week I was scheduled for an onsite interview to meet with the hiring manager and a potential co-worker. The interview was very conversational and easygoing, there were not many questions about my experience they wanted to make sure I was a good fit. Two days later I got a rejection email saying they proceeded in a different direction.
Four days after receiving the rejection email, HR let me know that the Corporate Accounting Manager opportunity had become available and if I had any interest, to which I said yes. Another onsite interview, this time with 3 individuals, the hiring manager and his boss, and a manager from another department. The interview lasted about 2 hours and I thought we had a good conversation, most of the questions were behavioral and about my experience.
At the end of the interview, the hiring manager came back for a second time and said that he had a few more interviews to go through but he understood how tight the labor market is and that the leverage was on my side. However, if you have an offer from another company please let him know as soon as possible. It looked very promising and reassuring. I sent a thank you note the same day.
Four days later, I followed up and offered professional references that could help with his decision-making. It's been exactly 5 weeks since the last onsite interview with QTS and I have been ghosted. It's very unprofessional and disrespectful to not update candidates about their status in the interview process. I spent significant time preparing for the interviews and took time off from my current job for the onsite interviews - very disrespectful.
