I was recently among a company lay off with my last employer, so I was desperately applying on different career sites. I actually applied to this company for a different position but my resume was sent to head of the department for this role. (Which I thought was really nice and that they were actually caring for candidates since not a lot of places that are hiring would even consider doing so.) Had a two part interview process. The first one was virtual and the second one was in person. The hiring manager stated by the end of the first interview that they would determine the candidate by the second interview. But by the end of that second one they stated that the company was still making the decision. Just for them to reach out to me by the end of Monday the next week to tell me the company was “placing the position on hold”. I honestly felt like my time was wasted and that they never should’ve reached out to me in the first place. I believe now that they weren’t ever going to give my the position, they were just making it seem they were trying to reach enough people just to say they actually tried to fill the position but no luck.
