The interview lasted 2.5+ hrs with the company owner and his son and another Project Engineer. It involved a CAD test, a plumbing design test and in-depth HVAC questions. I was not given a tour of the office, but while there I noticed the office appeared a bit outdated and somewhat claustrophobic. I sensed a level of arrogance from one of the owners and from the interview I got the impression RTM is very ambitious but as disclosed to me by a former employee later one, RTM did not have a proper plan, the resources or incentives to attract top talent and grow the business. Judging from the project portfolio on the office wall, that were used during the interview to describe the work they do, RTM seemed to have an overreliance on a few clients limited to a few industries and as I later learned, this resulted in inconsistent workload, which often results in lay-offs. I did not walk away from the interview being impressed with the company, however one could consider their interview process as impressive by being rigorous, intended to attract capable engineers. Nonetheless I am glad I did not get a job offer with this firm.
