Entrevista
Start of met with 2 HR staff, US and JP nationals. No Japanese used in that interview. General get to know me and get to know Ralf Lauren.
Next stage was multiple tests including Excel, personality, Japanese language, mathematics (in Japanese).
Final stage was another panel interview with the 2 heads of Japan. 2 foreign guys, very nice, relaxed but gave tough questions.
Problem was it took them a very long time to get back to me, by which time I had found another offer worth +30% more salary. They did not even give me any interview feedback, just silence. So I was very surprised when they made me the offer. I had considered it dead. If a company takes this long to communicate with you, it means they have a very slow functioning HR department, or... other people rejected their offer and I was a bit down the list. Which says something.

Recruiter reached out after I applied. I had a video interview with her first where she asked the basic questions regarding my past duties and experience and then gave me some background and info on the hiring manager. A second interview was set up with the director/ hiring manager. The director was very friendly. The interview flowed nicely and it went over the scheduled time. Honestly felt like a good match and I anticipated a second interview. I had to follow up several times in the two 1/2 weeks following the interview. The only part I did not like was that I had to follow up to find out that they had decided to move to another candidate. A call would have been awesome since I had interest in other merchandising roles. Overall a 8/10 experience!
