After being referred by a recruiter, I had an hour-long remote one-on-one with the company CEO in which we talked about the role, the company, and my background, followed by a round of technical and design questions. (That part came as something of a surprise.) The atmosphere was relaxed and I felt that we were able to establish a good rapport, though ultimately, the company chose to go with a more experienced candidate.
