      Entrevista

      The interview process consisted of 3 separate interviews that spanned 12 weeks, aside from the meet and greet with the recruiter. The introductory call with the recruiter was mostly revolved around the job description. The recruiter mentioned that Red Hat doesn't pay well when compared to others and that this role does not require any travel as it's mostly working with OpenShift clients in Atlanta. I decided to proceed as I am not the type of individual that is motivated by money. The first part of the interview process was a 90-minute HackerRank session that assesses your programming and SysOps skills. The programming questions were mostly in Java with a few NodeJS ones. SysOps questions were mostly Linux commands. I found this portion to be way easy and it took me about an hour to conclude. As I did very well, I was moved to the next stage in the process which is a 1:1 phone screen with a Red Hat consultant. This interview was very technical and mostly revolved around my experience with containerization and Kubernetes. The individual was very professional and provided every opportunity for me to highlight my strengths. As containerization/Kubernetes/DevOps are my area of expertise, I did very well in this interview. After a couple of weeks, I was informed that they want to move on-site for an interview in my hometown, Atlanta, GA. I was scheduled for an interview with 5 people. I tried desperately to get in touch with the Red Hat recruiter to get information about the interview format, dress code but I did not hear anything. In the interview description, I was asked to prepare a 30-minute PowerPoint presentation to highlight a project that I had done in the past. I spent about 6 hours on preparation for this portion. So on the day of the interview, I show up and a Red Hat employee is there to greet me. As soon as I sit, I come to learn that 3-panel members will not be attending for this morning interview. Apparently people come in late or prefer to work from home on Fridays. Looking very professional already! Anyways, the interview went well and towards the end, the panel told me that I have the job and should get an offer in hand by Wednesday. A few weeks go by and I still do not hear from Red Hat so at this point I assume that I did not get the job. A month later, I reached out to the recruiters and coordinators for feedback on the interview and mentioned that I was surprised to not hear back since I did so well in all 3 stages and was told that I basically have the job. The recruiter, who has not been very involved in the process, finally reaches out with an unprofessional email asking me to stop trying to rush the process. Moreover, he says that there is no way they would hire someone that cannot travel more than 15% of the time. I was shocked since the process had been dragging on for 12 weeks already and the opportunity was initially presented with zero travel requirements. A couple of months passed by and I still did not hear from Red Hat. I finally logged in their portal to find that I was not considered for the position. I was so discouraged by the way Red Hat handled my candidacy that I decided to share my experience with you on Glassdoor. It is upsetting because I took 2 days off and spent a lot of hours preparing for my Red Hat interview. They don't care and so I will never pursue an opportunity with a company that treats candidates that way. I hope your experience is better than mine!
