First had a talk with the VP, then I was given a coding challenge (develop a web service that scrapes review posts from a given URL) and one week to complete it. Shortly after I sent back the solution, there was a 2-hour session that included code review and refactoring conducted together with two ReviewTrackers engineers, and brief non-technical conversations with two more engineers, another manager, and the VP again. Same day later I received a message the company would not move forward; based on the VP's response, the engineers were impressed by the solution for the coding challenge, but not so impressed by how I did the code review part.
