      Candidatura

Candidatei-me online. Fiz uma entrevista na empresa Rite Aid (Camp Hill, PA).

      Entrevista

The entirety of the interview process lasted well over three months. Overall, it was a very poor experience and soured my opinion of the company. I was initially contacted by a senior corporate recruiter who seemed very eager to speak with me. He described the position with a lot of passion and told me why he thought my background made me an excellent fit. Furthermore, he went into the salary and stated they would not be hesitant to offer me a very good base salary in relation the position and my current salary. After this short approximate ~30-35 minute interview an in person panel interview was arranged at their Camp Hill office. The panel interview consisted of two managers and the director of the department. Overall, the interview was pretty standard in comparison to other interviews at this stage in ones career. At the tail end of the interview they began to ask me questions related to work hours, culture, salary, and lastly they asked for my references. I took this as a positive sign that things had gone very well and anticipated an offer would come shortly after. However, this was not the case... Another two months went by and I had not heard anything at all back, so I decided to make a call to see where they were at. Shortly after making this call I received an email stating the company was on a hiring freeze leading up to their proposed merger with Albertson's but that I should expect to hear back from them very soon. I was a little frustrated that they had not been more proactive in reaching out to me to keep me up to speed, but let it slide. Another couple weeks went by after this email and I received another email. This one came from the department manager, she mentioned that it had been some time since we had first spoke and they wanted me to come back in and go over the position again. I accepted and came back in and they asked the same questions they had the first time as if they had entirely forgotten me as a candidate. I was very disheartened and frustrated at this point, but thought maybe this was some small formality before an offer would come. Once more, I was very wrong. I received no follow up at all for another few weeks. I finally decided on sending an email to the corporate recruiter asking for an update. A few days later a generic canned letter stating the company was no longer considering me as a candidate came from their talent acquisition portal. It was so cold and impersonal. They could not even take the time to give me a call or write an email at least mildly going into why I was not selected. Altogether, I spent a total of 2-3 hours in interviews on site with them, 4 hours of transit time, two thirty minute phone calls, and all the time it took me to follow up with them for updates, and nothing but a canned response came in the end... Candidates understand if you decide to go in a new direction or if you are no longer hiring because a merger falls through. However, please respect the candidate and provide updates or reach out to them and thank them for their time. Overall, after it was finally said and done I did not get the job. However, if the interview process was a window into how the company operates ( and I think it was), it was huge blessing not to have received an offer.
