I applied for the Global Supply Manager position through LinkedIn and was contacted by HR about three weeks later for an initial phone interview. The recruiter was friendly, professional, and asked a few standard behavioral questions.
Shortly after, I was scheduled for a second-round interview with the hiring manager. While the conversation was polite, it became apparent early on that the manager was looking for someone with a very specific engineering background—something not indicated in the job description or during earlier stages of the process. She also mentioned already having a candidate in final stages for the role.
The experience highlighted a clear misalignment between the recruiting team and the hiring manager. It seemed the manager may not have thoroughly reviewed my background before the interview, which made the conversation feel perfunctory.
While I appreciate the opportunity, the lack of clarity on candidate requirements led to a frustrating experience and an inefficient use of time. I hope the company improves internal coordination in future hiring efforts to ensure candidates are considered thoughtfully and respectfully.
