      Entrevista para Field Engineer

      7 de dez. de 2012
      Funcionário(a) sigiloso(a)
      Midland, TX
      Oferta aceita
      Experiência positiva
Entrevista com nível médio de dificuldade

      Candidatura

Candidatei-me por meio de uma faculdade ou universidade. O processo levou 2 meses. Fui entrevistado pela SLB (Midland, TX) em out. de 2012

      Entrevista

First interview was with two people on campus, very friendly and just your standard behavior based questions. Practice by looking at sample questions online. Also RESEARCH the position and show them you know what you are getting yourself into, this will impress them enough to push you to the next round. Got an email about a week and a half later saying I got the second interview. Arrived at airport in midland and met with a few other candidates before we all got on the shuttle to the hotel. This company is very big on safety and stresses the use of seat belts so buckle up! Once we got to the hotel we checked in and all met in the conference room. We began with ice breakers, they ask you to pick a color and it will correlate with a task you have to perform (sing a song, do a dance, tell a funny joke, etc.). Be prepared and have something ready for each option! After this the recruiters began their presentations with a little background of the company and then jumped right into each segment. Each group goes up once their segment is called and gives their preassigned presentation, afterwards the recruiters ask detailed questions to assess how you handle pressure and your knowledge of the information. This is followed by the recruiter's own summary presentation of the segment (salary, work life, locations). This will continue with each group until they are finished with all segments. The presentations end with one by the recruiters about the benefits package. Forgot to also mention that somewhere in the presentations they will take a break for dinner which is served in the hotel, be sure to try and spark up conversations with the other candidates during this time. One thing to remember throughout the whole thing is that be as friendly and outgoing with other candidates as possible, you aren't competing with them since the company doesn't have a limited number of spots. They could very well hire everyone interviewing if they all seem like a good fit, and conversely I've heard of interview sessions where only 2 out of the 18 people got the position, so just be social! After presentations they start the group activity, ours was to build a catapult out of pencils, rubber bands and a spoon, and manage to launch a ping pong ball a certain distance. The groups are randomly assigned right then. They are looking for your teamwork here, not which catapult goes the farthest or works the best. Be sure to put your input in at all points of the construction and always ask for the input of your group members. They will also change it up and add new people to your group and take out others, be prepared for it. After that they bring in the coveralls, hard hats, boots, and safety glasses and we all try them on and pick them out for the next day's activities. Once you pick them out you are done for the night. This will typically be between 1 and 3 AM, although I've heard some get as lucky as having been released at 11:30. The next morning you get up and have to be on the bus by 7:30 if I remember correctly. We got to see a mud lab and fracking equipment, then had lunch and after we toured a wireline base and a drilling site. During all these be sure to be very intuitive, asking both your tour guide and recruiters questions. They want to know you are actually interested in the position. In addition talk to people on the bus and just have fun. DO NOT go to sleep on the bus! They want to see if you can handle sleep deprivation and at some point you will be tired but you need to stay awake. Once you get back to the hotel they let you take a shower and start with the exit interviews which last 5-10 minutes/person. These are just to reaffirm what position and location you're interested in and to see if you have any more questions. After this they take you out to eat and bring in engineers so you can chat with them and see how the job really is. Depending on the recruiter some will take you out to a bar afterwards and some may just head back to the hotel, if they do go out be sure to go as well even if you're tired. If you drink alcohol, have a few but don't get drunk by any means, they say at this point the interview is over but they are always watching! This is the end, after you get back to the hotel get a little sleep and be sure to wake up for your flight home in the morning. So in summary ask questions, be social, show some energy, and have fun! This interview is all behavioral and no technical what so ever, they know you have an engineering degree but they want to see if you have a personality as well.

      Entrevista

It was an on campus hiring. First they shortlisted based on CV. Then second round was group discussion where we were given abstract topics like "Half filled glass of water" and were asked to discuss. This was also an eliminatory round. The final round was more of a HR round, they asked behavioural questions, few puzzles (very easy) and general knowledge questions
