      Entrevista para Field Engineer

      Candidatura

Candidatei-me por indicação de um funcionário. O processo levou 2 dias. Fui entrevistado pela SLB (Oklahoma City, OK) em mar. de 2013

      Entrevista

First round was completely over the phone. It was your generic interview questions: describe a hard time in you life, tell when you overcame adversity etc. I used every question to help sell myself to their company. I was the only person interviewed from my school as Schlumberger doesn't actively recruit from my area. I waited over five weeks before I heard back. I received an email telling me I had moved on to the second round interview in OKC, OK. I was quite excited. Another two weeks and I was on a plane to the interview. The first night we started at 6:00 PM. They did an ice breaker where you picked a color and had to sing a song, tell an embarrassing story, dance, or something else. I picked blue and had to dance so I did the chicken dance. After the dancing, they started talking about the company and different areas they are hiring in that they want workers for. They will ask questions randomly during the presentations to see if your paying attention and to see if you have basic engineering knowledge and common sense. They also ask you to give a presentation on an area. They want to see how well you grasp the subject. They will ask you difficult questions when it is over to see how you can think on your feet and how well you know the material. My group member never showed up so I had to give the presentation myself. I put the material in easy to grasp terms as opposed to leaving it in engineering terms and they seemed to like it. We also had to build a tower to hold as many cans as you could out of tape and 50 sheets of paper. Again I had one person in my group and was at a seemingly disadvantage but I came up with a system of columns to distributed the weight and we ,a aged to win. Here they are not as concerned as how you are building or how well you do. They want to see your ability to work together and how you handle talking and problem solving. We came up with an easy game plan and got to know each other as we built it and they seemed to enjoy it. We went to bed at 3:30. The next day we got up and on the bus by 8:30 and went to the local yard to see equipment in person, testing services, and engineers. They made us wear seatbelts on the bus. They are highly concerned with safety so make sure you wear them everytime your on the bus. The key here is to ask questions to keep showing your interested in the job. Never stop trying to answer and ask questions but don't ask to many and seem desperate. They will ask questions that relate to the info session the night before so pay attention they like that. Afterwards they allow you to meet with engineers and they leave the room and give you an hour to ask ANY QUESTION YOU WANT. Any of them? Use this time wisely as your questions can be very to the point and you don't have to worry about the interviewers judging you Afterwards they take you out to lunch and they pay for it. They are going to see how you act and integrate in a unit. I talked with the bus driver as. Well as two other group members and one interviewer sat down with us. Afterwards we visited a rig site where they took us around and showed us how things work. Again they are asking questions and want you to ask questions as well. They do an exit interview when you get back and showered. They look at your grades and discuss where you want to work. They tell you they will get back to you in two to three weeks, I've heard it's faster. They also said if they are not interested they get back to you in just a few days. I had lower grades than most so we discussed why and what happened. She seemed satisfied with my answers and wanted to review them more in depth. They told me I did we'll however at the interview so I hope that helps. I say that to tell you not to be concerned with your GPA as they aren't as concerned with your GPA as much as how you perform and carry yourself at the second interview. After that they take you to eat. They are still watching how you act so drink, but keep it at or under two beers for the night. We talked about movies and sports. They next morning they send you back home. I lucked up and had first class tickets the way back but some people didn't. The give you a $100 gift card for expenses. I asked other people who had first round interviews in person and they had questions like, "How higher is 10,000,000 dollars in twenties?" and "How can you tell between two different fluids in the pored in the same bowl?" I haven't been offered or denied yet but I needed to read something on glass door so I had to type this yet

1st round interview included short technical question, and telling about myself and the projects I worked on. Not difficult/or hard, but just need to explain well enough to tell the logic process

It was an on campus hiring. First they shortlisted based on CV. Then second round was group discussion where we were given abstract topics like "Half filled glass of water" and were asked to discuss. This was also an eliminatory round. The final round was more of a HR round, they asked behavioural questions, few puzzles (very easy) and general knowledge questions
