Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 2 meses. Fui entrevistado pela Samsara (Londres, Inglaterra) em jan. de 2024
Entrevista
Very well organized, and very candidate-friendly.
# Recruiter call: A knowledge-and-behavioural-heavy round, but it was a nice one because the recruiter asked me real-world experiences and approaches to tackle engineering problems and dug deep into my leadership experiences (instead of just asking my personal detail and move forward me to the next stage) and share with me the details about the role for both of us to see if we match - I got positive feedback after 1 day.
# Phone screen: Not a typical leetcode type opf question, but the question was very practical and I got asked with a lot of followups. Even tho you can brute-force, but some algo & data structure knowledge will help. I got positive feedback after 1 day.
# Onsite: 4 rounds in total:
- product demo: very insightful and interesting as I am interested in IOT
- coding: another non-typical question, the question itself is simple and straightforward, but what made it stand out was the followups and your approaches to make it ready for production
- system design: Very typical one, nothing fancy. It is just to design a product feature like I usually do in my day-to-day job. Like how I design the APIs, schema, storage, the way for services to communicate with each other. Definitely some dive-deep in optimization, scaling, pros&cons for different approaches
- Behavioural: This round is very important, especially for me as a candidate to know more about the company culture, and the people you potentially will be working with. I was just be myself and chat with the engineering manager
# I got positive feedback and a verbal offer within a week. Their package and remote-working style, really stands out, so I accepted!
One of the worst interview experience that I had, the interviewer came more than 5 mins late. Then he gave me a question to solve and then straight away got busy on his phone. Some of the decisions that we
Only had an initial call with a frankly clueless recruiter. Could tell me very little about the role, what I would be working on, or even the tech stack. Interrupted me constantly and kept asking me if I had any more questions when she couldn't even answer the few I did have. Probably the worst HR phone screen I've ever had, and I've had a few.
Recruiter round was smooth and professional. However, the technical interview didn’t match what was described. The prep materials clearly said no Leetcode, and focused on Samsara's system related.
I prepared accordingly, but the interview ended up being a standard Leetcode medium. Disappointed by the mismatch — if algorithm questions are preferred, let candidates know.
