Worst Interview I've Ever Been On. A recruiter from Schoology reached out to me as I had worked for another LMS company recently and had a diverse background in sales. She invited me in after a brief chat. I met with 2 sales manager and the 'interview' honestly felt more like an interrogation about my background than anything else. Even though I had successful Account Executive experience, including winning a Presidents Club Trip for top quota attainment, in my past history the interviews did not like right off the bat that I was coming from a lead generation role, not strictly closing, at a startup. I'm sorry. If you are good at sales you can open, close, demo, present and do it all. Focusing on one aspect does not make you bad at others. You don't 'lose it.' Sorry I decided to work for an exciting startup...just like you are. The sales managers felt more like they were looking to check a box with candidates with recent AE closing experience so they could be covered to their superiors if they didn't work out. They did not speak at all the product or make any effort to get to know me or let me get to know them. They both have a 30 second canned lined opened about why they joined the company and their background and then it was off the races the picking apartment mine. Hint. If you LOOK for the negative in any person's background you can find it. One of the hiring managers mentioned she and someone, possibly the sales VP, came from Zoc Doc and they have exactly the same hiring process. Interview interrogation No thanks.
