Applied online. I scheduled time with the recruiter a week in advance. 5 mins after I join the call and wait I receive an email saying the recruiter had a meeting they can't step out of and asked if I have time later. I replied with my availability for later in the day. I didn't receive a response. I followed up to check if they'd like to reschedule for another time. But, the recruiter never responded. I'm surprised that this is the level of appreciation and respect they have for candidate's time and effort.

The Pros:
The individuals I met (CMO, CPTO, CTO) were intelligent, and the technical discussions regarding AI strategy and identity management were high-level and engaging.
The Cons:
Excessive Process: The process consisted of 8 separate rounds. This is nearly double the industry standard and goes against data-driven hiring practices (like Google’s "Rule of Four").
Lack of Targeted Assessment: Despite the length of the process, the final feedback centered on "scrappiness" and "small-company fit"—themes that were never explicitly addressed or tested through behavioral questions or case studies.
Respect for Candidate Time: For a Director-level role, a 4-week, 8-round commitment should yield a decision based on the skills discussed, rather than a subjective feeling about "scrappiness" that could have been determined in Round 1.
Advice to Management:
Streamline the interview loop. If "small-company grit" is a non-negotiable requirement, test for it early with specific behavioral prompts rather than putting candidates through a marathon loop that ends in a "vibe-based" rejection.
Initial screening call with HR. 45 minutes with hiring manager. Another HR call to discuss. A second 45 minute call with a stakeholder. A final 3 hour, 5 person interview round of 30 minutes each.
