      Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 6 semanas. Fiz uma entrevista na empresa SecureLink (TX).

      Entrevista

      I got sent this assessment thing a couple days after applying that had a 15 minute cognitive component and a personality questionnaire. It wasn't quite an IQ test but same kind of concept of some math-y questions, reasoning-based questions, etc. It was fairly painless, I don't really know exactly how they used it though. I didn't hear anything for about two weeks and assumed I probably wasn't being considered anymore. Then I got an email from SecureLink saying that they are still reviewing my application, but that they have gotten a lot of responses so will be following up later with any next steps. I really appreciated this and wish more companies would follow suit. It is really nice to just know what is going on with the process. A few days later I got an email from a recruiter to set up a phone call that would be 15 minutes talking about the job and 15 minutes of doing the cognitive assessment again while she watched over video to I guess make sure I didn't cheat the first time. She was friendly and didn't ask anything weird, just your usual getting to know you kind of interview and figuring out why I was interested in the job. I got an email the next day about setting up an interview with the hiring manager/software director. That interview really just consisted of me asking him questions about the job. He was friendly and direct in his answers, but hardly asked me any questions. He then sent me a Java coding challenge to complete over the next week (it definitely wouldn't need to take that long though). I sent my solution a few days later, then got an email saying that the position has been filled. The next step in the process would have been an onsite interview where I talked about my solution to the coding assignment, wrote some more code, and looked at/discussed some of their existing code. I was disappointed that I didn't get the opportunity to discuss my solution to the coding challenge and interview onsite, but I appreciated how straightforward and clearly communicated the process was. I would definitely apply to SecureLink again.

      2 interviews and it seems so okay so far. Very accommodating. First interview was online while the second one was a coding challenge also online. I am looking forward to the next steps but I do not know what the rest will be like.

      Initially contacted by recruiter. She sent me behavioral tests to take. I guess I failed (?) these because I never heard back. I found the experience cold and overall negative. I know I have the skills to do the job yet they seem to only care about a behavioral test. Strange. I wouldn't reapply here, ever.

      First off, thanks for taking the time to share your experience of the recruiting process. Candidate experience is important to us and this feedback is really valuable. That said, I'm troubled that your experience was such a negative one. We get an overwhelming number of applications every year and we make a concerted effort to communicate, at an absolute minimum, at least twice with everyone. Those communications should always include a message at the time that we take a candidate out of consideration for any reason. To speak to the assessments briefly, I want to highlight something very important. We do not have "behavioral standards" to which candidates and employees are held. We use these assessments (there are two: a personality assessment and an aptitude assessment) to allow us to expand the list of candidates in consideration, not shorten it. Most recruiting processes first conduct some kind of recruiter screen of the resume to answer the basic question, "is this candidate qualified to do this job?" At SecureLink, we care less about someone's last job, whether or not they attended the "right" school, or had the "right" internship, so we just skip that step. In an effort to consider a more diverse group of candidates, including non-traditional candidates (like those going back to work after staying home to raise kids, those making a career shift, etc.), we assess aptitude and personality. We find this atypical process to be extremely predictive of success in our environment (about 4x more predictive than interviews, in fact). We hope this helps you understand the value we see in these assessments and why we've integrated this step into our recruiting process, but if it hasn’t, I’d be glad to discuss it further with you.
