I was tasked with doing an assessment prior to speaking with anyone. After that, I had a phone screen with the recruiter who asked the usual questions about my experience and went over the position to the best of her knowledge. She was very pleasant to talk with. After getting moved on, I did a video interview with the same recruiter. I then had to do the assessment again with her watching me.
The following round, I spoke with the manager of my team over the phone who then asked a lot of technical questions. We also talked about some non-work related things. He seemed like a great guy and made me excited to work with him.
Finally, I was moved on to the next round with a video meeting with the CTO and the previous manager. Unlike the last rounds, the vibe here was okay rather than great. He seemed more interested in talking about himself, but did ask a few questions related to my technical background. The manager didn't talk much here.
About 3 weeks later, I received an automated email that I was not selected. Honestly, my experience overall would have been very positive even though I was rejected had they not taken such an extremely long time to get back to me and in such an impersonal way after I had gotten so far with them.
