      The interview process moved through multiple stages and into later discussions, but decisions shifted near the end. Input from the interview team appeared to be overridden by senior leadership, with new criteria influencing the final outcome that had not been part of earlier conversations. This created a clear sense of goalposts being moved. The process itself was heavily technical, with little to no discussion around culture, values, or team dynamics. Despite the seniority implied by the role, there was no meaningful opportunity to assess mutual fit beyond technical performance. Overall timelines were also drawn out. Communication gaps stretched over an extended period, with decisions taking weeks and updates coming sporadically. Recruiting coordination and handoffs added friction, reinforcing the impression that candidate time was not a priority. Taken together, the experience reflected an environment where authority appears tightly held by leadership, with outcomes dictated centrally rather than shaped collaboratively. This aligns with themes raised in other reviews and raises concerns about transparency, autonomy, and consistency. Candidates who value influence, clear expectations, and collaborative decision-making may want to think carefully before proceeding.

      Entrevista

      I applied through a referral. There was a phone screen with a recruiter, a take home coding quiz, a product demo session on-site, followed by a full day on-site interview. I have to say that working with the Sensor Tower engineering recruitment team has been an absolutely fantastic experience, mixing really attentive and engaging recruiters and interviewers with a really personalized interview process. A couple parts of the process really stand out to me: the recruiters invested time to get to know me and proactively searched for points of commonality to connect with the culture; the interview process was collaborative, and the Sensor Tower team asked for specific things they could do to make me feel comfortable in the office; and they had an open lunch session with a chance to meet more of the team in a fun, low stakes situation, but there was also an option to recharge alone for introverts. I could tell they really care about the dynamics of their team. The offer was very generous from the start, and everyone was an open and trustworthy negotiation partner as we discussed the offer. Based on this experience, Sensor Tower is the very first place I hope to look next time I'm on the job market.

      Typical fare for engineering interviews. The coding quiz was algorithms focused, around medium to hard level on LeetCode. The on-site pair coding was a bit easier than that and a bit more focused on the communication side of things. There was the usual system design session, as well as a few more product-oriented general discussion sessions. I get the overall sense that customer-oriented and product-driven engineers would be a particularly good fit with their team.
