      Entrevista

      I applied online and was contacted by a recruiter within a week. She was warm, communicative, and clearly cared about finding the right fit. Unfortunately, the rest of the process didn’t live up to that first impression. The second interview was with a leader on the CS team who spent most of our allotted 30 minutes talking about himself, the challenges of the role, and complexity of the product. He really only asked me one question, a random riddle about buckets of water “to learn how I think," which felt misplaced for a Customer Success role. He also came across as a bit condescending and not particularly personable, which was surprising for someone who supposedly works directly with customers and customer-facing teams. The panel interview was more structured but still odd. I was asked to build and present a hypothetical customer presentation to two managers, neither of whom actually work directly in Customer Success. While the presentation itself went smoothly, it was strange that no one from the CS team was included to evaluate how I communicate value to customers, which is a core part of the job. The final step was another interview with another manager, again, not someone directly managing the CS organization, but an adjacent team. The conversation was fine, but at that point the entire process felt disconnected and misaligned with the role I was actually applying for. Red Flags: After completing the entire multi-step process, plus several hours of researching their product and building a presentation, I received a generic rejection email, no call, no feedback, nothing. That felt dismissive and unprofessional, especially after the significant time spent on my end. Another major red flag was the complete lack of diversity. Every person I met with, aside from the recruiter, was a white male, and only one out of the five people I spoke with were part of the Customer Success team. It gave off a strong “boys’ club” energy and didn’t inspire confidence in the company’s culture or inclusivity. Takeaway: The recruiter was excellent at first, but everything after that felt disorganized and out of touch with what a CSM role actually entails. The process seemed more about checking boxes than genuinely evaluating fit or experience. If you value diversity, structure, and professional communication, this may not be the most encouraging place to interview.

      I have never been so relieved that I was not asked for another interview. My phone screen was with the recruiter was fantastic. Conversation flowed, she was a great representative, and spoke about the company in a way that made me geniunely want to work there and hoped I would get invited to the next round. If she ever worked for a different company, I would be thrilled if she reached out to recruit me. I was invited to speak with a hiring manager and unfortunately for me, it was the worst interview I've ever had the displeasure of attending. He came unprepared, but that didn't matter because he let me know immediately that all his interviews were three questions-tell me about yourself, the two bucket four gallons, and how I would solve an excel question from a client. He let me know numerous times that the he's heard how memorable his interviews are, based soley on the bucket question. After we went through the bucket question, he droned on about why he asks that question (guess I'm not smart enough to infer on my own) and he asked me the excel question I have listed below. He "well actually"'d me about needing two formulas to solve it and asked for another way, which I replied I would punch it into Google. He told me a previous hiring manager, who wasnt there anymore, would ask the Excel question and make the applicant solve it and the interview was an hour and a half instead of just a half hour, like he was doing me a favor? Further red flags when I asked questions: I asked how the company handles feedback to make changes to the software. Per him, the company has been around for 15 years so there really arent many changes to be made. Which made me pause for two reasons, 1. This is a Saas company. In theory, you should want to innovate and push the product further 2. If the product is broken, tough luck, you figure it out. He hit me with another condescending well actually when I asked how the role and team were structured. As we were wrapping up he reminded me for the third or fourth time how "memorable" his interviews were, but really, the word he's looking for is patronizing. I've never considered withdrawing my canidacy before, but he left such a negative outlook about ServiceTitan that I'm annoyed with myself that I didn't. If you desperately need a job, I get it, go for it, and good luck! But if you have literally any other prospects, save your dignity and don't bother.
