The interview was done over Skype with Shabaka's former director. The interview involved very few questions about teaching strategies or professional experience. The director asked if I had experience coaching young guys in a sports setting and then tried to draw awkward parallels between teaching Saudi students and coaching hockey. There were some questions about whether or not we could handle living in a hot, boring country. I tried asking questions about the program, the housing, and the management approach, but the director brushed off every question and just told me to read their website (which I had already done and I still had questions).

I took a telephone call for an interview for the company. They emailed me to call me first and we scheduled the call to happen that friday. It was through cell phone and not zoom
