Shopify have an excellent hiring process, but I hear this differs depending on your recruiter. My recruiter was a member of the Talent Acquisition team in Ottawa, very friendly, transparent and responsive. I applied on a Thursday and received a follow up the following Tuesday. I was asked to schedule a 15 minute call to speak to the recruiter. This occurred that week and consisted of a brief conversation about my current role and experience. Next, I had the video call Life Story interview the following Wednesday, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I was able to have a 45 min or so conversation about myself, my experiences and motivations. The recruiter had no notes or my resume with them during the call, so you have their complete attention. This is intentional and works well. I enjoyed the interview. I didn't make it to the back to back team interviews due to the operational needs of the role that I didn't match, I was not offered the position. However, I will continue to look out for suitable opportunities at Shopify as it's truly the sort of company I want to work for and has a winning culture. My overall experience was positive and throughout the process, I felt like Shopify truly cares about whi you are as an individual. They place a great deal of importance on culture, values and fit, which is rare.
