Terrible experience during a phone screen interview. I understand the purpose of these is to screen candidates with high level / basic questions, but the interviewer was completely incapable of participating in the conversation and unable answer any questions. It was clear that the interviewer was a recent hire as their explanation to what Sidecar does and their expertise was extremely vague. Whenever I asked a simple question, the interviewer seemed to turn to a script of answers that were far from relevant. At one point, I asked about how Sidecar weighs fee for their client base and the interviewer answered with "Well speaking of costs, how much do you currently make and what did you have in mind for salary?"
The interview was a complete waste - I'd love to see the interviewer's "notes" that were passed back to the managers on the customer strategy team. Reading a list of questions and especially a list of pre-written answers is no way to carry a conversation with a potential candidate. The interviewer deflected every answer and question I had with a completely separate and irrelevant topic.
