      Entrevista para Graphic Designer

      8 de fev. de 2020
      Candidato(a) sigiloso(a) à entrevista
      Oferta recusada
      Experiência negativa
      Entrevista fácil

      Candidatura

Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 2 semanas. Fiz uma entrevista na empresa Signs By Tomorrow.

      Entrevista

It was way too invasive. Asking personal questions not based on skill. President is clearly a micromanager and I’ve heard horrible reviews about working there since. It was also clear that they don’t have their act together as a business and are not professional.

      Entrevista

It was easygoing. Very informal, despite me dressing business casual. The boss was 15 mins. late and dressed casually. I was given an assessment test, which I completed. I was ghosted, though, after repeated attempts to ask about my candidacy. I'm a rational human being. You're not going to hurt my feelings if I don't get selected. I'll just move on.

Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 4 semanas. Fui entrevistado pela Signs By Tomorrow (Rockville, MD) em jul. de 2019

      Entrevista

Genuinely terrible interview process. Applied for an entry-level graphic design job and was met with three rounds of (ridiculous) interviews. Really poor communication and a clear lack of respect for their applicants. First, a phone interview. Next, a 90 minute in-person interview plus a skills test. During this interview, I was asked silly questions like "what is your spirit animal?" rather than anything regarding my experience as a designer. After this in-person interview, I waited for weeks to hear back and finally emailed for a status update. The same day I emailed, I received a response asking me to come in for yet another interview the FOLLOWING DAY. For reference, this response was received in the late afternoon - very late notice. This was to be a "working interview" from 8am-12pm. Luckily, my schedule happened to be free the following day and I agreed to attend this interview. During the working interview, it became apparent how backwards this company's perception of its employees worth is. I was shocked to be asked how my "relationship with my parents is" in addition to several other personal questions during a formal interview with one of the managers. I can't even begin to explain how inappropriate this type of question felt. Is my value as an applicant dependent on my relationship with my family? Really? Additionally, I practiced cutting vinyl during the interview for about an hour - something that I'm sure I would never have to do in this role if I was hired. The company has a production team that would complete this type of work. It was all just very, very strange. The very next business day, I was told that I did not get the job. I then sent a polite email to the hiring managers explaining the types of inappropriate questions I was asked during my final interview and how redundant and unfair the hiring process was. If I was working full-time, for example, I would absolutely not have been able to attend the final "working interview" on such short notice. Also, I still can't get over the family relationship questions that were asked of me. Of course, though, no response at all to this email. Clearly, these folks don't value their applicants' time. They have unrealistic expectations of entry-level designers and also seem to value their relationship with their parents over their design skills/background. Can't even begin to imagine how they treat their employees if APPLICANTS are treated with such little respect.
