Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. It felt as though the panel had already selected a preferred candidate. The interviewers’ tone came across as unprofessional at times, and some questions, such as “How do you collaborate?”, were posed in a way that suggested a lack of clarity or purpose. Even when answering, they seemed to be looking for any gap in the answer. The overall atmosphere felt more like an interrogation than a genuine conversation, with an excessive focus on minute details.
Given the current performance of Slough Borough Council, as acknowledged in their own workforce strategy, it’s clear that cultural and managerial improvements are needed or maybe even a whole restructuring. The interview gave off strong micromanagement vibes, which reinforces the need for the change they themselves highlight. Based on this experience, I’ve decided not to proceed with my application.
