HR Screen/Introduction - 15-20 mins Casual conversation with a recruiter where they described the company and the work they do, as well as general chat about what I already knew about them. Super casual, just a normal conversation. Hackerrank - 90 mins 3 Leetcode style questions testing you on data structures and algorithms. Questions were probably medium in difficulty, but you need to have the optimal solutions to pass all test cases. Quite difficult to get 100% I found. Interviews - 2 x 60 mins Both interviews were with one other software engineer and began with general chat about their roles, my own experience, and a general introduction. Remaining 45 mins spent on Leetcode style algorithm questions. First problem was a medium difficulty graph question, whilst next was easy array question. Discussion on big O notation and time complexity throughout. Interviewers were great and it feels like you're solving the problems together, as opposed to them trying to trip you up. Final 30 min chat with someone in leadership Non technical chat with one of the top level people at the company. Just general discussion about the company and what it's like to work at Smarkets. Mines was with the CTO and was really casual and informal. Final 60 min technical Similar to first two technical interviews although with a more senior engineer. Leetcode style like the others. Questions were easy-medium in difficulty, although finding the optimal solution again can be more difficult. Overall advice in the technical interviews is make sure you understand basic data structures and algorithm concepts, and can implement things like depth first search, recursion, binary search, etc. Seemed like they really valued how well you can talk through your solutions as opposed to just getting there in the end. Make sure you're comfortable talking through your thought process.

All very standard. Phone screen, codility, 2 in person interviews. Final interview was with CEO who has a bit of a reputation. Was screened for not being a good culture fit (whatever that means).
