I applied through Indeed.com and received an email back for a first interview. I first met with Liz Hall the General Manager. She was very easy to talk to, knowledgeable about the business and was in tune to the needs of the club. She seemed most interested in learning about my catering skills (menus, set-ups, scheduling, etc.) and how I would contribute to running a profitable catering department. I was invited back for a second interview and met with Chris Schwartz. He had a strong personality and seemed more interested in learning about my sales and knowing who I knew in the community that I could reach out to for business. After the second interview I was provided an in-depth tour of the club and also of the pool amenity area.
It seemed at the time the club was looking for a catering director that knew how to run the department efficiently, could help them increase their business and continue nurturing relationships with their members; all the while establishing new clients/members to help increase their catering department revenue. I believe being able to run a catering department and have a very personable personality is key and leads to well built client relationships.
My only feedback would be sometimes it's not always about how many or the number of clients you could possibly bring (because nothing is guaranteed), but more about are you a good relationship builder that could forge lasting partnerships.
Should the opportunity present itself again I would take it into consideration.
