I got an email from a SolarCity recruiter and the position looked interesting. So I responded and she told me about an open house and that I should attend. I go to the open house not sure what to expect, so I just wore business casual and brought a few copies of my resume. I show up to the open house and the other 12-13 people there were all dressed in suits. Oops. It started off with a presentation of the company background information. Pretty straightforward. They told us about the commission based pay system and the potential income. Then they gave a design presentation which really sold me. The software and proprietary tools were pretty cool. After the presentations they broke us into 3 groups and gave us a chance to ask questions. They also asked us some questions. Nothing too technical, just basic HR type questions. Most of the other candidates were fresh out of college or still in college. I had a few years in the real world under my belt so I think I was able to answer the questions a lot better. The next morning I got a call asking to set up a phone interview. The phone interview wasn't really an interview. They just called and extended the offer right away. TL;DR I went to an open house, it ended up being an interview, I answered the questions truthfully using past experience, got the offer the next day.

There was a test. But it was mainly to test the candidate's thinking process. Then there was the typical interview question session. It was pretty simple. Just review interview questions and you'll be fine.
