First I got an email for an assignment. Solved the assignment and sent it via email. No response for about 12 days, after that I get an email from the CEO confirming if I would be applying for internship position. I confirmed that and we decided on the time for the interview.
Now the critical part, during emails I confirmed that I will not be available for office internship and will only be able to work remote. They confirmed and I got scheduled an interview the next to next day. The telephonic interview went great, the interviewer had very good knowledge about basic linear algebra and probability concepts. During the telephonic interview I again confirmed that I will only be working remote for the position. Everything went great until I get a call from the HR and they say that getting remote is difficult. They said they will talk among themselves and confirm within in a few days. After a few days(around 2-3 days), they say that they have decided to offer me an internship position working remote and will send me an offer letter within a few days.
Here is when the BS happens. 1 week later they say that they wont be able to offer remote due to "policy changes" and its impossible to get remote now. Since my college does not provide NOC, it is not possible for me to come to office internship. I said, okay, I can come in June but since I have already cleared the assignment and interview, I don't see any point in applying again in June and repeating the process again. They declined and that was it.
Obviously there were some miscommunications in the company but it was really unprofessional for them to first say yes and then say no to remote internship. They were offering office internship for 1 month but that was pretty much useless and a waste of both of our times.
For anyone applying here, be sure to confirm everything before getting excited.
