Nice phone screening with recruiter w/ basic questions about programming and networking. Was told not to worry about my networking knowledge. Then video interview with hiring manager, who asked problem solving questions about networking. I struggled with the questions as networking was not my area of expertise. Hiring manager showed visible frustration and negativity, which was unprofessional.

Had me interview 5 times, some of the interviewers being quite unprepared. They didn't really know what to say for most of the interviews, and just expected me to do all the speaking to fill the awkward silence. A few of them were somewhat rude as well.

I must admit I was extremely disappointing with my interview at Starry and I felt as though I was unjustly brought through the interview process with no intention of having an offer extended.
After applying online, I shortly received an email to setup a phone interview that week with their HR director 'Kory'. During the 45-60 minute phone interview a few conceptual C/C++ and network protocol questions were asked. At the end of the interview I was asked to complete a week long project that would test my planning and coding style based on different required objectives. I will not describe the project itself, but what I will say is that is was a fairly lengthy project that needed full attention. I was able to complete the project and each milestone required was in working order.
When it came to submitting my completed assignment, I made sure to submit it a day early and asked for a follow up with any questions about it. The response I received thanked me for the submission and that it would be about a week before the assignment could get circulated and graded properly before any questions could be asked. It was less than a day later that I received an incredibly general and non-informative email explaining that I was no longer considered for the position. I am not sure if I was lied to the entire time in order to get my submission, but I sent a follow up email asking for any feedback on my work and explained how this contradicted the email I was sent the same day. I never heard anything back; nothing.
I cannot stress how disappointed and frustrated I was going through this process. I felt as though this was handled extremely unprofessionally. After a week of hard work, I believe that I deserved more than to be ignored and my work taken with no reply. I never found out why I was removed from the process. Before you apply, I would seriously consider asking yourself whether you are comfortable with putting in a week's worth of work only to be completely ignored the same day of submission. Disappointing communication.
