I recently had an interview with a US-based interviewer (in his 40s), but unfortunately, it felt like my experience and skills were overlooked. The focus of the interview seemed to be on domain experience, specifically in Investment Banking, which I do not have. Neither my career background nor education has been in this field and this was not mentioned as a requirement in the job description. Even during the HR screening process, there was no indication that domain experience would be a critical factor. I spent 6-8 hours preparing thoroughly for the interview, learning about the product in detail, only to be rejected due to a lack of domain knowledge. It ended up being a frustrating and unproductive experience, as this key expectation was not communicated beforehand.
