I was contacted by a recruiter for a position to gauge my interest. After an interview with the recruiter, I was then interviewed by their HR manager then thier CFO. They asked basic questions and it appeared they were unsure of what they actually wanted. I was asked to come to an onsight interview in which I spoke with thier HR manager and CFO again but also spoke with their newly appointed CEO. The whole process was a bit antiquated and disorganized on their part (the recruiter was very much the opposite and my experience with her was fantastic). The issue I have found is that non-marketing people do not understand the complexities and cross-functionality that goes along with the position and how it can drive multiple processes both internally and externally. Ultimately, they decided to go a different direction, but their lack of organization and direction left a lot to be desired. It is also worth mentioning that this process lasted months (approx. 3.5 in total), giving they had ample time to prepare so, in the end, I felt like they wasted my time.
