I applied for a Junior Developer position and was invited to a screening call. During the call, the interviewer kept his camera off, claiming he was moving between locations. The call felt scripted . the same phrase "if you have any questions I'll be happy to answer" was repeated multiple times throughout.
After the call, I received a take-home technical assessment with a written promise of €50 compensation regardless of the outcome. I stayed up all night to complete it and submitted Saturday morning.
After submission, all communication stopped. I sent multiple follow-up emails with no response. I also reached out directly to the CTO, who had been given access to my repo, still no reply after two days.
The promised €50 was never paid and no acknowledgment of my submission was ever given.
After my experience I found similar reviews on Glassdoor describing the exact same pattern, camera off, paid task promise, then complete silence. I wish I had seen them before investing my time.
Candidates should be aware of this pattern before committing time and effort to their hiring process. And I will do my best to spread this so no one gets deceived by this company again.
Even if they will respond later they should have respected the candidates and given me a response about what's going on with them, and I'm sure they are currently working as the schedule they sent me had working hours.
