They don't have an actual job they are just collecting resumes and wasting candidates time, here's why I believe the principal engineer job at Streeteasy is a fake job. 1- They have 2 exact same jobs posted on their website, 'Principal Software Developer Engineer' and 'Principal Software Developer Engineer - Technology'. 2- I first saw these jobs roughly 6 months ago (They just keep on re-posting these jobs on LinkedIn and other boards to keep them "fresh"). Why would they do that? To pile up qualified candidate resumes (in case if there is ever an actual opening) and it also keeps the company in public eyes when it comes to tech hiring. 3- I personally know 2 other guys who applied for this position and didn't get the job. One of them is an average developer and the other one is hands down the best developer I have ever worked with in my 8 year career (he has about 12 years experience). Everyone is very nice when you go for the interview but if you notice they really don't test you for anything like algorithms, data structures, design patterns or system design. My recommendation would be to either stay away from streeteasy or apply for some other position on their website.
