Pursued referral once I identified the position was open. Phone interview/screening with HR (30 min)...learned there we no internal candidates involved and there had been some interviews already, but for one reason or another no offers were made; one week later, phone interview with hiring manager (1 hr); same week, personality (Gallup) phone interview (2 hrs); heard from HR that next step was an on-site interview and began picking dates. Took over a week to hear back from HR...learned that a candidate had apparently already made it to on-site interviews BEFORE they talked with me in the first place, and they were making him an offer. Bummer. Overall, a good experience, since it's helpful to get challenged on what you know and what you've accomplished. Nice preparation for the next interview somewhere else!
