I first talked to an HR representative, who talked a bit about the company and what they do. He set up a phone interview with the engineering manager and one of the engineering module managers for a specific time and date. The two managers called about 10 minutes later than the appointed time. It quickly became obvious that the job they were interviewing me for was not the one I had applied for. The interviewers had poor people skills and asked what should have been relatively easy, straight-forward questions in the most condescending manner possible. Things like "you're in an area where I hear there are plenty of jobs available, why do you have to look for a job all the way out in California?". I think it was that question that made me realize I was no longer interested in this job and I quit putting forth effort to answer their questions. After several lackluster responses on my part, the interviewers abruptly ended the phone call. I am not expecting to move forward in their candidate selection process. I already work a similar process engineering job with similarly unpleasant people, I don't need to move across the country to do it again. It's a shame, because the job I originally applied for would have been a great learning experience, and I would have loved to live in that part of California.
