The process consisted of an intro interview with a recruiter, a phone interview with a senior manager and another phone interview with the recruiter. Once you move to the next round, but before your visit, you have to do a pre-work assessment. This consists of an online personality and skills (math) test and a personality inventory. This will take you about 4-h hours to complete. On your site visit you will first meet with PDI International for personality test, a talk with an industrial psychologist and a role playing exercise. The role playing exercise was based on a case in which you have to counsel a subordinate about performance. There is really no way to prepare for this, just read the case and become familiar with the material. The actual on-site target interviews were with eight people with small breaks in between. These interviews were mostly fit with a case or two thrown in. Target is very collaborative and very strategically conservative. They do not seem to be a risk taking environment and strategy has to be socialized to many people before a decision is made. All the people I met were nice and helpful. The recruiter got back to me in 3 days and did not offer me the position. My biggest complaint is that by Target policy they will not provide any interview feedback. You can get feedback from PDI on the personality test and other aspects of that interview but I found the feedback too broad to be actionable.

First phone screen and follow-up process was great. I wanted to give Ben Chase a shout-out. I left our call thinking, "I want to recommend someone else to Target". Then, when I didn't proceed past the phone screen he called me and left a message. Then, he sent an email to let me know. I spoke to him at the beginning of my interview process and he definitely set the bar for other conversations with big firms.
