The interview is always with the PI, and both sides try to understand whether or not the other side fits to their needs. The employee needs to bring his CV, and have related knowledge and/or experience in the lab's field of research. The lab is supposed to supply the employee's needs in terms of interest, work tools and professional guidance, and benefits. If both sides agree upon their counterpart requirements, usually the employer will agree to hire the employee.
