Everything wrong with tech interviews... - hidden requirements, close mindedness and arrogance from reviewers - hypocritical as can be - will mention to keep design simple, yet require you to delve into incommensurate level of details before you're even started, which of course you have to get how they want or you're wrong (no discussion), turning a 3 page design document into 6 pages. - request a design document before writing code, yet will mention you're expected to write some code and know exactly how you're gonna proceed during the design stage - probably 2-week full time (if not more, if you include the discovery phase) - no respect for other employments - will apply Parkinson's law (aka. bikeshedding) of triviality to the letter

The wheels came off in the take home project. The engineers have very specific ideas about your knowledge level but it is not spelled out at all in the application or screening process. Was a complete waste of time if I had known what they wanted I could have saved us both the trouble.
