Unprofessional planning and poor follow-up

Process:
Contacted by a recruiter.
Culture fit interview with a manager — went well.
Technical interview with the team (system design) — also positive.
Final interview with the CEO — went OK.
Outcome:
I was told all feedback was positive, but the company couldn’t extend an offer because of a sudden “budget cut.” I was reassured that it wasn’t just a polite rejection and that I would be contacted first once a role opened again.
Concerns:
It’s poor planning to have candidates go through several rounds of interviews if there isn’t a clear budget in place. This reflects badly on how the company manages resources and recruitment.
A few months later, they posted similar roles again. I followed up, but received no reply — breaking the promise of contacting me first.
This combination of over-interviewing, lack of foresight, and broken communication made the process feel unprofessional and frustrating.
Overall:
The interview conversations themselves were positive, but the way the process was handled — from poor planning to lack of transparency — left me with a negative impression of the company’s professionalism and respect for candidates’ time.
