Values Mismatch: Extensive Unpaid Strategy Work for a Role That Was Already Closed
Pros: Knowledgeable senior leadership in the healthcare tech space; the interview panel was engaged and professional in conversation.
Cons: Tendo’s stated values of Accountability and Openness were not reflected in this experience. The process required a substantial “homework” deliverable (40+ hours) and a formal presentation, without transparency on role status.
I reached a late-stage interview for a senior product leadership role that required a substantial take-home assignment: a 20+ slide strategy presentation involving original research, analysis, and synthesis, requiring a significant time investment.
Prior to completing the assignment, I had a discussion with company leadership to clarify expectations. During that conversation, I was told the topic aligned with areas the organization was actively exploring. I later presented the work to a senior leadership panel.
After the presentation, I learned that the role had already been filled earlier in the hiring process. The hire had been publicly announced prior to my presentation date, and the job posting was no longer active before the deliverable was completed. This information was not disclosed to me before I was asked to proceed with the assignment.
While post-presentation feedback was positive and leadership acknowledged the quality of the work, the lack of upfront transparency materially impacted how I would have chosen to invest my time. Being asked to complete a large, unpaid deliverable after a role has effectively been filled does not feel respectful of candidates’ time or effort.
Advice to Management:
If a role is filled or no longer actively open, notify remaining candidates promptly and give them the choice to continue only if there is a clearly defined alternative opportunity. If extensive take-home assignments are required, scope them to a reasonable time commitment or consider compensation when the work closely mirrors active internal initiatives.
Advice to Candidates:
Before starting a large take-home assignment or presentation, confirm in writing that the role is still open and not already filled or paused. It’s also wise to re-check the job posting before investing significant time to ensure it remains active.

Please do not waste your time with this company. They post fake jobs to get free labor and knowledge from industry experts without paying them. This was the worst interview process I have ever experienced.
They put me through six rounds of interviews, including a panel with seven people. For that panel, I was required to create a presentation that took me four days to prepare. The instructions never mentioned sending them the actual slides, yet one of the panelists emailed me on a Saturday morning asking for them. I was hesitant, but I sent them anyway.
I believed the panel was the final interview, but they then scheduled two more interviews. After that, they said my “final” interview was with the CEO. Then they claimed they were preparing an offer and asked for my personal information, including my name and address. But instead of sending an offer, they asked me to meet with the Co-CEO.
I pushed back, explaining that since they were already preparing an offer, it would make more sense to meet the Co-CEO after I started—especially given my limited availability. Instead of replying to my email, a man from the company called me twice, then emailed me. When I spoke to him, he essentially asked why I didn’t want to meet with the Co-CEO. I repeated my reasons: I had already completed the final round, gone through excessive interviews, and they had said an offer was on the way.
An hour later, another employee texted me asking if I had five minutes to speak with the Co-CEO. I said yes, but he then told me he saw I had already explained my reasons to the other man. Meanwhile, the HR representative had been viewing my LinkedIn profile repeatedly for several days.
This Co-CEO situation dragged on for a full week. The “offer” they claimed they were drafting is now more than seven days overdue.
After reading other Glassdoor reviews, I believe this company is not actually hiring. Instead, they prey on candidates, extracting free work and ideas to build their own knowledge base. They are manipulative and waste people’s time.

Went through 6 interviews with two presentations to find out if they wanted to hire me or not. Honestly should have billed them for my time.
Kind of ridiculous to meet with so many people and still have them end up rejecting me.
