First interview was an initial 45 min phone interview to gauge my background and abilities. They then required a near full day worth of interviewing over video conference. Started with a presentation that I had to prepare prior to the interview day. I delivered this 10 minute presentation which was on any topic, ideally one that would highlight my abilities and knowledge around vehicle dynamics and design. Then there was about a 10 minute Q&A period from all the people who would be interviewing me later. Following this presentation period, I had 6 separate 1:1 interviews (45 min each approx.) with about a 15 minute break between every 2 interviews. Unfortunately, the second to last interviewer had scheduling conflicts as he seemed to be traveling and was in an airport, so they moved my schedule around such that the window of time that i was interviewing for ended up being around 7.5 hrs total. Pretty tiring day.
The interviewers seemed to have different roles in terms of what they were tasked with asking me about. One of the mechanical design engineers was tasked with gauging my ability on all things solid mechanics, material properties, etc. Another was focused on testing my knowledge on vehicle dynamics as a whole. Others wanted to simply see what my experiences were working as a engineer and what types of problems I've had to solve in the past. One interviewer showed me an example of a design issue they'd had recently with one of their vehicles and wanted to see what my thoughts were on how it could be improved using some understanding of vehicle design.
