Received an email from Sophia via LinkenIn interested in me for the Minneapolis, MN apartment GM. First phone interview with Sophia was wonderful and felt like a conversation. Great questions and did not feel too scripted. Was told at the end she would like to move me to next steps to interview with Michelle. Was not told until the start of the phone interview that they were rapid fire questions. At end told it would take 24-48 business hours to score and then I would receive notice of results. 5 mins later Sophia called me super excited and said I scored very well and she wanted to move me to next steps. Then I do a Teams video interview with another recruiter and I was not impressed with the structure and flow. Felt like this was her 10th one of the day, all very scripted and she did not seem genuinely interested in getting to know me. Her audio kept cutting off at the start of each question too. It was videotaped “for training purposes” which I did not feel comfortable with but had to agree to move forward. Felt I did fantastic but a few days later received the standard “we have moved forward with other candidates” email. Considering we were texting it would have been more appropriate if she had called to give the news but I get the size of their business makes it hard to give that level of personalized service. I asked for feedback via text and did not receive any response. Comparing to recent interviews I have had, this process for The Connor Group felt impersonal and too scripted for what their culture and business focuses say to be. Especially since they initiated the interview process.

Why do you want to change from your current position?
The interview process has been fast paced and definitely scripted, but they are nice and the questions aren’t too hard especially if you prepare enough. There are multiple interviews, and the hours seem to be long.

I went through an extensive interview process that included six separate calls over the course of a month, followed by a full working day onsite. Throughout the entire process, I was consistently told the company was actively filling General Manager roles for two locations.
However, when I arrived onsite, I was placed into training sessions for those same roles—which had apparently already been filled. When I asked for clarification about the purpose of my visit, I received vague and inconsistent answers, which made the experience feel disorganized and misleading.
Despite this, I stayed fully engaged and treated the day like a working interview. I stepped in to help resolve multiple situations and even went as far as scrubbing bathrooms for a new tenant move-in because the condition was otherwise unacceptable. I wanted to demonstrate ownership and leadership at every level.
I was ultimately passed on the next business day. What was most disappointing, though, was the complete lack of follow-up. After investing significant time and energy into the process, I reached out for feedback and never received a response.
It’s frustrating to commit that level of effort only to be left without closure or basic professional courtesy—especially from an organization that emphasizes being “people first.”
They could improve transparency about hiring needs and timelines, and ensure candidates are treated with respect throughout the process—including providing feedback after such a significant time investment. They should be clear that they are looking for candidates who are highly flexible and open to relocating on short or no notice.

Interview was what was described. Fast paced and scripted. To the point and mention of hours and 50-60 hr work weeks were mentioned right away. Nothing was hidden in terms of what the expect and how they want their property managed .
