Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 4 semanas. Fui entrevistado pela The Farm 51 em jan. de 2023

      Entrevista

The whole recruitment process lasted over a month, it was tedious and unpleasant, and it resulted in a disappointing offer. Initial Interaction: - To begin with, there was a call without asking beforehand about my availability, and this persisted throughout the whole process. -At the first call, there was no information given about the internship, I was only asked if I'm willing to do an art test. I didn't inquire about the details of the internship at this point because I just assumed this was the fastest way of eliminating the majority of candidates and only after successful completion, there will be an opportunity to talk in detail about the type of contract, the scope of duties, the financial aspect as well as my expectations. To my surprise when I received an art test it already had a predetermined delivery date of 2 weeks already counting down, even though I haven't stated if I'm available immediately to complete it. In all art tests I had participated in, I was always asked to state by what time it will be delivered, and even if it was indeed predetermined I still had a say when I'll start working on it. Art Test: - Nevertheless, I submitted an art test on time, and after 2 weeks of waiting I received a very well-written critique as well as a 30 minute video feedback on every part of the model, a final score, and an explanation of what to improve. Overall I must say I am pleased with this part of the process and the reviewer who evaluated it. The Following Mess: - After the review, I had no idea if I passed, and even if I did I had no idea how to proceed since the recruitment process was never explained. I had to reach out for this information, and I still wasn't provided enough. While I inquired more about the details of the internship, there was no new information provided besides what's mentioned above. The call ended with a talk about my PC. A day later I found out that I was being organized a replacement one, even though there was no clear information that the company offers such a thing and if I agree to it, not to mention the delivery aspect which again I was not asked about, nor explained. During this time I was also asked for my address to sign NDA, which also wasn't explained to me. - By that time I was disappointed with how the offer looked and at the closest opportunity I decided to ask for all the specific details written in email form, so I can refer to it and negotiate a better offer. I was only given the same thing again, one sentence stating the duration and it being unpaid, as well as a promise of future work. - I negotiated that the proposed offer is unattractive both short term and long term and I tried negotiating a minimum wage for the duration of the internship, explaining my strengths, credentials and that the score mentioned by the art test reviewer - My mail was completely ignored and discarded, the topic was wholly changed to me not qualified for a Regular Weapon Artist position with a suggestion on improving my portfolio. This response was confusing and inaccurate since I had applied for an internship and was negotiating those terms, not a Regular position, and I had not expressed an interest in the Weapon Artist specialization, I was never asked what specialization I pursue. - I tried to clarify my previous email, which was misunderstood and explained that my goal was to negotiate a minimum wage. I also mentioned that I was never given information about the type of contract that would regulate the internship, the scope of duties, the main specialization, the number of hours or the programs used and I requested those details in order to come to a mutual understanding. - This was followed up with a response that, while my concern of working for free is valid, effectively, people on unpaid internships show much more determination and willingness for self-development than those on paid internships. - Not only was my email ignored again, but the statement above is brimming with a blanket assumptions about the motivations and work ethics of individuals based solely on the fact of whether they want to be paid, ignoring their financial situation or circumstances. All in all no more details about the internship were provided and in addition, the concern about the promise of future work still being below minimum wage was also ignored. In conclusion, there was no clear guidance of the process, I felt completely ignored, my basic questions and concerns about the internship went unanswered or were misunderstood, and there was no willingness to negotiate.
