Candidatei-me de outra forma. O processo levou 1 dia. Fiz uma entrevista na empresa The Melanson Company.
Entrevista
Hands down the weirdest interview I ever went on! First they are a perfectly reputable company in their field and this was 7 or so years ago so I am sure much has changed, but I still tell this story over drinks! I guess they had never had a safety manager before and they had grown to the point where they need one. The first alarm bell should have been that their INSURANCE AGENT conducted the initial interview. Since I was to visit their job sites he mentioned a "company vehicle". It turned out that I would have to drive my own car to the office in the morning and take whatever pick up truck was available and bring it back at quitting time. That is like saying a Fireman has a "Company Vehicle"! Usually multi site Safety managers have a dedicated vehicle that goes home with them and carries safety supplies and other gear so this was a highly unusual set up. After a while I was brought to meet the company mangers (owners?I don't remember) There was a lot more Q&A and I slowly got the impression I was giving a free consultation as opposed to being vetted for a job. After I had been there a total 2 hours or so they brought up my salary expectations. The Job I had just finished was $70k a year and I told them this. You could have heard a pin drop and these two guys looked like they had been punched in the gut. They said that was a little higher than they were looking to pay. I asked what they had in mind. With a perfectly straight face they told me they were looking to go no higher than $8.64 an hour. Less than the "Golden Arches" were paying to flip burgers at the time! We had a rather awkward wrap up and I got the heck out of there!
