      Candidatura

Candidatei-me por meio de recrutador(a). O processo levou 3 semanas. Fui entrevistado pela TigerGraph em jan. de 2021

      Entrevista

DISAPPOINTING First interview was with the recruiter. Compared to other companies I couldn’t grasp any company culture from him. I felt as though money was the best thing about this role. When asked about company culture etc I kept getting unsatisfactory answers without any real examples of how fun the place is or if it offers flexibility due to a remote role. Second interview was confusing; mentioned it was a phone interview ended up receiving a zoom invite a few minutes before the interview with 2 people rather than just one person on the phone. Didn’t really receive an apology for that. I Was then asked detailed questions about the role without asking to introduce myself or what I’m currently doing in my life. Role doesn’t require much experience as they were looking for coachable individuals yet go into depth about the definition of the role. I was then asked how far I live from the office in london (which threw me off a bit as i was told it’s a fully remote role not a hybrid one) once answered it was assumed I would be ok to commute there once a week. They didn’t deem it fit to ask me if that’s ok with me. Interview didn’t go too well as I was quite startled from the beginning, felt very awkward. They didn’t give me an opportunity to ask any questions in the end of the interview (maybe because of how badly it went ?) In the end I did mention in suffering from a bug and we ended the interview on that. I expected to fail the interview. Surprisingly I passed the interview. Reason being : they liked that I did the interview despite being sick. Second interview was quite easy ; I had thought there might be a challenge or role play but it was purely a meeting for me to ask any questions which I appreciated. However, same as the first interview I was not able to get solid answers or examples on flexibility and company culture. I was expected to have one more interview for culture fit (which I was really looking forward so I can finally see if this company has good culture as it claims to have) Lastly I was meant to have a interview with the manager. None of the last 2 steps happened and I received a offer straightaway. One would be over the moon yet I was still unsure and felt things were going a bit too fast. Yes the salary was great considering the big career break I’ve had yet I still had some unanswered questions that were vital for me to ask and the questions about company culture & work life balance still wasn’t answered I then arranged a meeting with the manager before signing off the contract. The meeting really did turn things around for me. One of the first few questions were about the normal day for a SDR at TigerGraph. Then the next question to which the answer really threw me off. My main reason for choosing a fully remote role WHILST in a pandemic was so I can still fulfill my other duties such as drop and pick up my daughter from school if need be (something many companies I have interviewed with in the same role were happy about and boasted about their work life balance ) i sensed some uneasy ness from the manager something along the lines of “If I start saying yes to you then I’ll have to say yes to everyone else , or you’ll have to take off from your lunch break. To which I found myself making justifications for asking such a question in the first place. When asked about what things are done to keep team spirits high I was given a very unsatisfactory answer same tone as I’ve gotten throughout the interview process. This role is from 8-5 without any leeway for flexibility or all of them just struggle to admit that they don’t trust you and won’t let you be flexible even if you meet your targets. The tone “if I can do it so it so can you” echoed throughout the interview. She mentioned the salary being high and also my lack of experience not being great but said I’m coachable which was nice however the tone I had gotten is that you can’t be moaning for flexibility if we are giving you such a high salary and you don’t even have the experience either. Sorry but I know I can do better and there’s better companies out there that REALLY sell their fun & flexible company culture. Thanks but my mental health and life outside work is part of this. I think they need a reminder that we are all in a midst of a pandemic & inflexibility will lead to employee burnout no matter how much money you throw at them. People will not last long there. Worst of all; after rejecting the offer in the most polite & professional way with the reasons of rejecting. I received no reply whatsoever. Quite rude and unprofessional. Looking at the reviews you’d think they are all about company culture and fun to work at. I don’t know where that’s coming from because a company THIS inflexible during a pandemic without work life balance gets zero stars from me.
